The GOP primary in the 11th Congressional District of Florida was called by the AP at 8:21 pm.

In the central Florida congressional district, the two candidates were separated by just over 5,000 votes.

In Sumter County, which is home to The Villages, a massive retirement community, Loomer is ahead of the others.

The district favors Republicans and the district needs to run against a democrat in the fall.

The 21st Congressional District includes former President Donald Trumps Mar-a-Lago home. Trump claimed that Loomer had a good chance of winning. In the heavily Democratic district, she lost to her opponent by a large margin.

After drawing attention to herself through her work, 29-year-old Loomer became known for her Islamophobic comments. She has called Muslims "savages", celebrated the deaths of thousands of migrants in the Mediterranean Sea, and suggested an alternative ride-sharing company that wouldn't hire Muslims. She protested her suspension from the social media platform by chaining herself to the front door.
