A good photographer can take good photos even with the crappiest camera. All bets are off. Digital noise continues to be a problem for stills, even though some cameras can shoot video only by the light of the moon. The heat and physics are making it hard for us to make even better camera sensor. I get the sense that we're at the precipice of everything changing after seeing the open source project called MultiNerf.

I can write a million words about how awesome this is, but I can do better; here's a 1 minute 51-second video, which, at 30 frames per second and a picture tells a thousand words is at least 1.5 million words worth of magic.

The technology uses raw image data and artificial intelligence to figure out what footage should have looked like.

As a photography and artificial intelligence nerd, I am excited by these developments; the lines between photography and computer graphics are starting to blur, and I am here for it. Computational photography is already present in all modern phones, but it is a question of time before it is fully integrated.

Copyright law is going to get real interesting, y’all
