The second highest capped player in England Women's football history has decided to retire.
The decision was made after the England squad won the European Championship in June.
Scott won the Women's Super League title and four women's FA Cups while playing for the Lionesses.
"We're going to make this a celebration, even though I may be saying my goodbyes to football," Scott said. There weren't sad faces. We've had a lot of fun and we don't want to cry.
Imagine if you told me that I would go on to play for England.
Would you have told me that I would be able to see a women's European final? I would be playing in it. I can't say it's impossible.
Scott spent seven years atEverton before she joined City. She had loan spells at two other teams. The Women's Super League title with City was one of the domestic honours she won during her time in the game.
England's win against Holland in the Euro 2009 semi-finals is one of the career highlights. At the 2012 and 2020 Olympics, she was a member of Great Britain.
She made four substitute appearances for England in the European Championship.
The Lionesses will miss Scott's presence, but Sarina said the former player still has a lot to offer the game.
"I would like to wish him good fortune in his career," saidWiegman. She was able to end on a good note. She has been an icon of the team for a long time and will be hard to replace.
Her positive impact on and off of the pitch will be missed. Being able to play at the highest level for so long shows how good a player she is, and her story is a positive example that others will follow.
I hope she isn't lost to the women's game in the future because she has a lot to offer. Although it was only for a short time, I feel privileged to have had the chance to work with her.
The Duke of Cambridge said he would not miss her slides.
A pioneer of Women's football and a great team player is what William wrote.
There will be no more slide tackles during friendly kickabouts... W

With White out, there could be a promotion to the starting line-up for Manchester United's Alessia Russo, who came off the bench to replace her in each of England's games at the Euros, and scored four times.
Beth England, who was an unused substitute through the tournament, will hope for more playing time.
There could be a recall for the person who won the cap. He has scored eight goals in eight games for the Houston Dash.
One of the players who could come back is former skipper. The centre-back failed to make the cut for the Euros despite being part of the initial squad.
Sandy MacIver, who joined City, is one of the four who did not make the switch from 28 to 23.
Jordan Nobbs, who was ruled out of the Euros due to a knee injury, has returned to training with the club.
England will play Austria and Luxembourg at the bet365 Stadium before taking on Luxembourg.
Next year's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand will be decided by a point in the match against Austria.
England have won all eight of their matches so far in the competition and have not conceded a single goal.
In November of last year, they beat Austria by a single goal at the Stadium of Light, and in July of this year, they beat Austria by the same score.
