Will Zalatoris withdrew from the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club because of back problems.

Zalatoris was hurt on the third hole of the third round of the BMW Championship. He tried to play through the injury.

Zalatoris, the ninth-ranked player in the Official World Golf Ranking, won't be playing in the Presidents Cup.

Zalatoris was hoping to play in the Presidents Cup and represent the United States, but he won't get that chance. He wants to get healthy and return to the course as soon as possible.

One of the six automatic spots on the US team for the Presidents Cup went to Zalatoris. He probably would have been one of the captain's choices for the team.

Zalatoris won his first tour victory in a playoff at the FedEx St. Jude Championship on August 14th.

The former Wake Forest star was in third place in the FedEx Cup playoffs points and was slated to start 3 strokes behind the leader in the Tour Championship.

Zalatoris will get a $500,000 bonus for being in the 30-man field at East Lake. The winner of the FedEx Cup gets a lot of money.
