It can be difficult to make a baseball season unique and wonderful. There is baseball. Each and every day. The excitement of opening day isn't that important as it's one of 161. For the next six months, baseball will be there, that's what opening day is about. It's happening every day.
Baseball is still enjoyable even when things don't go as planned. It's happening every day. A bad baseball team has to grind away at work most of the time even if it is not doing well. Baseball games disappear into the ether even from seasons we enjoyed. We couldn't remember all of the mid-week August games. There were people in the background.
It looks like the latter is having an effect on fans. Baseball can become boring for certain. The point is that. Even if it loudly demonstrates the strain or duress the season has put them under, there will still be people who need to dress it up.
I want to go to Oakland first.
G/O Media may get a commissionRest, recover, and chill from family-owned organic hemp farms in Wisconsin.
Some places they sing while others watch contests on the field or on the board. They do it different in Oakland. Costanza has a sandwich in his bed. A's fans have been through a lot this season, including threats of a move, stripping the team down, and the new stadium dance.
I speak from experience despite disagreeing with their strategy. The upper half of Soldier Field used to be closed off when the Chicago Fire were in town. One night, during a comfortable Fire win, one friend decided it would be a good idea to walk up to the empty section so he could light up some enhancements for the rest of the night. No one is around there, no one is going to call you out. Everyone else in the stadium can see you when you are the only one sitting in the entire stadium. It wasn't more than a minute before security descended on him.
Everyone has a cellphone. People notice two people sitting in the last row of the Coliseum because they don't have to.
Last night in the Bronx.
We know that the Yankees have been bad for a long time, and have caused their fans to drink. They can't stop drinking and eating a hot dog at the same time. I am more angry about someone drinking a beer through a straw than I am about the construction of the straw. I asked if anyone would ever attend a Mets-Yankees game, as they are designed to bring out the worst in each team's fans to make for a bad night out. I think I have my answer, more so than I wanted.
Braves fans booed Marcell Ozuna after he was arrested for the second time in two seasons and suspended for hitting his wife. There is some irony in fans booing a player for a drunk driving offense in a stadium that has no public transportation, but we will leave that lie for now.
These are Braves fans who still do their Chop even though they have been told to stop by people who care about others. They are now having morals and consciences.
Everyone seems to be getting heatstroke.
