There is a generous status match promotion for residents of the United States and Chile. This is a great opportunity if you are eligible and can fly LATAM with any frequencies.

A status match promotion is being offered by the website status match.com. To begin, a few basics.

  • Requesting a status match costs $39
  • LATAM is matching to Gold, Gold Plus, Platinum, and Black status, but not to Black Signature status
  • Status matches will be approved within three business days, and within six business days your status should be upgraded
  • The promotion is valid for matches through October 31, 2022, though the offer could be pulled before then
  • Matched status is valid through March 31, 2023, so that’s just over seven months to enjoy the status
  • This offer is only valid for residents of the United States and Chile; presumably residency is generally determined by the address on your LATAM Pass account

Is this status match worth it?

We saw a similar status match earlier in the year, but this one is open to people in the US and Chile, so a lot more people could be eligible. Is this match worth it?

  • Getting a status match for just $39 without a flying requirement is pretty awesome, especially when status tiers this high are being matched
  • The catch is that LATAM no longer belongs to a global alliance, which changed when Delta invested in LATAM; if you’re looking for perks on other airlines, you can expect some limited benefits on Delta, but that’s about it
  • LATAM Pass does have pretty strong elite perks when flying with the airline, including priority check-in, lounge access, premium seat assignments, upgrades, and more

LATAM Pass Black members receive unlimited complimentary upgrades to business class on all routes under the current system. Is it correct for me to read that? This is a great opportunity if that is the case.

Bottom line

The LATAM Pass has a new promotion. You can be matched all the way up to Black status and there is no flying required. It costs only $39 to request a match, which isn't bad. Matched status is only valid for seven months.

There are limited benefits to this when traveling on other airlines since LATAM is not in the oneworld alliance.
