Ahead of Apple events expected over the next two months, there are now ten Apple devices that customers shouldn't buy.

In the fall, Apple usually has at least two special events to launch new products and the release of major software updates for all of its platforms. Significant hardware updates are rumored to be coming to the Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac lines.

AirPods Pro

The oldest current- generation Apple device still on sale is the AirPods Pro.

The AirPods Pro was announced by Apple. The earbuds went on sale the same day as orders arrived. The third- generation of the AirPods was released in October 2021. The oldest Apple device still on sale is the AirPods Pro.

The new model of the AirPods is expected to be released in the second half of the year, so it is just a matter of weeks away. There are reports that the AirPods Pro 2 are going to feature.

It has been suggested that the AirPods Pro 2 will feature an updated chip, self-adaptive noise cancellation capabilities, heart rate and temperature sensors, hearing aid capabilities, and a USB-C port, but Ming-Chi Kuo and Mark Gurman don't think so.

The fourth quarter of the year is when the AirPods Pro 2 will be launched. The AirPods Pro 2 could arrive after their predecessors. Customers should hold off on buying AirPods Pro until the new model is released.

Apple Watch Series 3

Almost five years have passed since the release of the Apple Watch Series 3. The oldest device to support the latest version of watchOS 8 is the S3 chip, which lags behind Apple Watch Series 7 and the S5 chip. The Apple Watch Series 3 is the only remaining Apple Watch that has an older, thicker design.

When updating watchOS, Apple Watch Series 3 users have to unpair and re-pair the device from their linked iPhone because the Apple Watch does not have enough internal storage.

The next-gen operating system for the Apple Watch was shown off in June. The Apple Watch Series 3 will no longer be supported by the new OS. The Apple watch series 3 is still on sale. Potential customers shouldn't buy the device since it won't support the latest version of watchOS when new models are released.

Apple Watch SE

The Apple Watch SE was a low cost option for customers. The Apple Watch SE is expected to be replaced by a second-generation model alongside the Apple Watch Series 8 next month.

Gurman says that the Apple watch may have the "S8" chip. Apple could upgrade the Apple Watch SE to its latest processor if the S8 chip features the same specifications as the S6 and S7 chips. It won't make a difference if you have the S6, S7, or S8 because all of the chips that are newer than the Apple Watch SE's current processor are essentially the same.

The new Apple Watch will almost certainly support the latest version of watchOS for longer, so buyers looking for a lower-cost Apple Watch should wait until the new model arrives.

Apple Watch Series 7

Almost a year has passed since the Apple Watch Series 7 was introduced. The Apple Watch Series 8 is expected to be unveiled in a month.

The Series 8 is expected to have an updated chip, software enhancements, and new health monitoring features thanks to a body temperature sensor.

The high-end Apple Watch "pro" model that could replace the Apple Watch Edition is said to be in the works.

With the Apple Watch lineup set to be updated in a matter of weeks, Apple Watch buyers should wait for new models to arrive.

iPhone 12 and iPhone 13

One of the most important Apple releases of the year is expected to happen in early September.

After lackluster sales for the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini, which both feature a 5.4-inch display, Apple is said to be planning to replace them with a larger device called the iPhone 14 Max. The iPhone 14 Max will be a cheaper option for users who want a bigger screen but don't need a ProMotion display or a telephoto camera.

The two new phones are expected to be the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Max.

Black, white, blue, red, and purple are rumored to be the device's colors.

It's not a good time to buy any of the mid-level iPhone models because they're going to get a price drop when they're replaced by the new iPhone 14 and 14 Max.

iPhone 13 Pro

At the high-end, the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max are expected to be replaced by the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, which feature a TrueDepth camera array design in place of the notch.

For the first time, the standard iPhone models are expected to miss out on Apple's latest chip, with the A16 reserved for the iPhone 14 Pro only. The standard iPhone 14 models will not have any of the new features exclusive to the iPhone 14 Pro models.

The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will be available in a number of colors. If the devices start with more storage, the new models could be justified in price increases.

When the new models are released, prices will be slashed with third-party resellrs.

iPad (Ninth-Generation)

The ninth-generation iPad was released in September last year. There will be a new iPad at an Apple event in October.

The ninth-generation iPad has a 10.2-inch display, an A13 Bionic chip, a 12-megapixel front camera, and support for the first- generation Apple Pencil. According to reports from display analyst Ross Young, the tenth- generation iPad will offer:

  • Slightly wider and thinner new design with flat sides and a rear camera bump
  • A14 Bionic chip
  • 10.5-inch display
  • USB-C port
  • 5G connectivity for cellular models

There is a report that says that the iPad will have a Touch ID power button. If you can't get a ninth-generation iPad, you should not buy the tenth-generation iPad.

iPad Pro

The longest- lasting iPad Pro models to date are the 11-inch and 12.9-inch models. The updated iPad Pro is expected to be launched in October.

The new iPad Pro models are expected to have the same design with at least four additions.

  • M2 chip
  • Glass back with MagSafe wireless charging, potentially with reverse functionality to charge other devices
  • Two new four-pin connectors on the top and bottom side edges
  • Camera system upgrades

While the iPad Pro update could be one of Apple's smaller hardware refresh this year, the age of the current device and relatively short wait for new models means that it is not a good time to buy an iPad Pro at the moment.

Mac mini

A new Mac mini is thought to be in the works. The entry-level Mac mini with the M1 chip was updated in November 2020. The potential of replacing this older high-end model with an Apple Silicon machine was previously at the center of rumors related to new Mac minis, but now it appears that both the entry-level and the high-end model may be refreshed simultaneously.

Apple is rumored to be working on two versions of the Mac mini, one with the M2 chip and another with the M2 pro chip.

The design of the Mac mini is over a decade old and Apple has no plans to change it. The next-generation Mac mini is likely to retain the same form factor as the current model, according to a claim from Ming-Chi Kuo earlier this year.

Jon Prosser claimed last year that Apple was working on a redesign of the small desktop computer with a glass top.

According to rumors, the new Mac mini won't be launched until at least 2023. Most customers should wait for a new model to arrive next year since the M1 Mac mini is one of the oldest models still on sale.

The Intel-based Mac mini is a relic from the period before Apple transitioned the Mac lineup to its own custom Silicon, which offers massive performance and efficiency benefits. Since the Intel Mac mini is four years old, those interested in buying it should not do so.

Mac Pro

One of the last Intel-based Mac models still on sale is the Mac Pro. It has been anticipated for over two years that an all-new model of Apple's top tier Mac for professionals would be released. "That's for another day," Apple said at its "Peek Performance" event earlier this year.

There are multiple reports from Mark Gurman about the chip options and specifications of the Apple Mac Pro. The device's configuration is likely to look similar.

There is a mac pro with m2 ultra

  • 20-core CPU (16 high-performance cores and four high-efficiency cores)
  • Up to a 64-core GPU
  • 32-core Neural Engine
  • 64GB or 128GB of unified memory

Mac pro with M2 Extreme.

  • 40-core CPU (32 high-performance cores and eight high-efficiency cores)
  • Up to a 128-core GPU
  • 64-core Neural Engine
  • At least 128GB or 256GB of unified memory

The M2 Extreme is expected to be more powerful than the current Intel-based Mac Pro.

The current Mac Pro is available with up to 1.5TB of memory, a $25,000 configuration option available to $11,999 and $12,999 Mac Pro models with 24 and 28-core processors. It is likely that it will be available with considerably less memory since Apple Silicon Macs use a pool of unified memory.

The Mac Pro starts at $5,999 and could go up to over $52,000 in custom configuration. The base model Apple Mac Pro with the M2 Ultra is almost certain to cost more than the high-end Mac Studio with the M1 Ultra. It is likely that the new base model of Mac Pro will be the same price point as the current model, but there is no further information at this time.

The device's design, ports, and modularity are unknown. The Apple Mac Pro is expected to be introduced later this year, followed by a "pro" version of the studio display with a mini-LED panel and support for ProMotion in early 2023.

Customers who are confident they will be reliant on a powerful, modular Intel-based system for the foreseeable future can still benefit from buying the current Mac Pro, but prices will come down when the Apple Silicon Mac Pro is released later this year. The majority of Pro customers will benefit from waiting for the most powerful Apple system yet.
