There is a new development in the quest to be something other than itself. A feature in the app that will randomly prompt users to take selfies is being tested.

The new feature is called IG candid challenges. IG Candid will send a notification to users at a random time during the day, which will prompt them to take a photo with both their front and rear facing cameras. They will post the image on their IG story.

The feature is an internal prototype, but no one is saying anything else.

There is no indication of when the public test will be, or if it will even happen at all. It's possible that this feature will remain an internal test for the developers.

As of late, Instagram has made it a habit to try out other apps' features for size, despite the fact that they've received a lot of negative feedback. A full-screen feed, as well as increasing the percentage of recommended posts shown to users, are some of the things that seem to be imitating TikTok in recent times.

It won't be surprising to see IG Candid pop up in your notifications in the future if IG remains hellbent on competing with every single social media app that gains the smallest amount of popularity.
