Harry McKirdy is facing an FA charge of improper conduct after he smashed a bottle of drink in the match officials' room at the County Ground.

After being sent off by referee Andy Woolmer for a second bookable offence at the end of the first half, McKirdy was furious.

His first and second yellow cards were for dissent and fouls near the halfway line. He felt he should have been given a penalty at that time.

Sky Sports News has been told that he went into the kit room and threw things after going down the tunnel.

After seeing the referee's changing room door open, he went in to confront the official.

He threw a drink against the wall that burst and went over the official's clothes.

The 25-year-old served a one-match ban for the sending-off but he is likely to face a much harsher punishment from the FA.

McKirdy has scored in each of his last two matches, and his form has attracted interest from clubs in the Championship, League One and the Scottish Premiership.

McKirdy has been charged by the FA with using aggressive and improper behavior in an incident which was outside the jurisdiction of the match officials. The case will be heard by an independent commission with written evidence from all parties. The hearing hasn't been scheduled yet.

Sky Sports News was told that they have co-operated fully with the FA investigation, as well as launching their own internal inquiry, with plans to amend their procedures depending on the results.
