An Atlanta-based TV station fired its chief political commentator and analyst on Monday for making fun of Donald Trump's physical appearance during a live broadcast.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that Bill Crane was terminated from his job as an analyst after he commented on Trump's appearance.

Crane had "uttered remarks about former President Donald Trump not aligned with our commitment for fair and unbiased reporting and analysis" according to a statement aired by the TV station.

The statement said that they were ending their relationship with Mr. Crane.

Crane made the remark when he was asked about the delayed testimony of Gov. Brian Kemp and Sen. Lindsey Graham in the investigation into Trump.

The stated reasons are not the same. There is an election that is just around the corner. Crane said that Labor Day is when undecided voters start to focus on the election.

Donald Trump and his orange face are in front of voters at a time when they're trying to decide how they're going to vote.

Crane said in a statement that some viewers found his comment offensive and called or sent emails to protest his description of Trump.

He said that the attack on President Trump was personal and that he had shown bias against him.

Crane wrote that he could have been a bit more PC after apologizing for the remark.

He referred to the former President as "The Orange Man" in print and broadcasted. Strong supporters of the former President are likely to find that offensive. I apologize as the comment last night was not meant to offend.

He wrote that he held no ill- will towards the team at WSB-TV, and that he hoped to continue as a political analyst.

I think part of the reason I have been able to do this for 22 years is that I call the hard balls and strikes on either side and attempt to do so with a bit of humor, sarcasm, the occasional pun, and with tongue in.

The term "orange face" and "orange man" are used to mock Trump. The same insult was used by Trump supporters.
