A lawsuit in the UK accuses Sony of ripping off its customers with overpriced games and in- game purchases.

Almost nine million gaming players could be compensated by a group legal action.

It claims that Sony violated competition law by imposing unfair terms and conditions on game developers and publishers.

The game is over. Sony hasn't commented.

The gaming company is accused of abusing its position as the market leader to impose terms and conditions on games' developers and publishers.

According to the legal case, Sony's actions have driven up prices for consumers, resulting in customers being overcharged for digital gaming purchases by up to a total of £5 billion over the past six years.

The amount of damages per individual is said to be between £67 and $562.

It applies to customers who have purchased digital games or add-on content on their console or through the store since August 2016

"We think we have a really strong case, or else we wouldn't be doing this," she said. Taking on a company like Sony is a big undertaking.

She said she was standing up for the millions of people who had been over charged.

Sony has ripped off its customers.

"Sony's actions are costing millions of people who can't afford it, particularly when we're in the midst of a cost-of- living crisis and the consumer purse is being squeezed like never before."

Concerns have been raised before over commission on digital platforms. In other countries, similar actions have been taken against Apple and other companies.

You're left with no choice but to pay the high costs for content because there's no alternative." We think it's the same for Sony PS3 customers.

If they are a PS3 user, they will have a claim.

  • Purchased digital PlayStation games
  • Made in-game purchases via the PlayStation Store

It can take several years for a case of this nature to be resolved, and people who might be eligible for compensation could be left waiting.

Given the number of consumers affected and the amount we believe they have over charged by, we expect Sony to bring this forward and settle.

We don't know what they're going to do.

Sony didn't reply to the request for a comment.
