In August, the New York Yankees are 5-14, drawing the ire of their entire fan base, while the manager is publicly showing his frustration.

Cashman stood by the club on Monday.

Cashman said that the group has his beliefs. I think they are still capable of everything we've ever hoped and dreamed, but we have to weather the storm first.

Yankees fans were angry after the club's struggles and made both Cashman and Boone the focus. Since the team traded for him from Oakland, right-handed pitcher Frankie Montas has allowed 14 runs in 14 1/3innings, posting a 9.39 earned run average. The team traded Jordan Montgomery, who has allowed one run in three starts, in exchange for another pitcher. Harrison Bader hasn't played a game because of injuries.

Cashman stood by the performance of the man.

Cashman said he thinks he's done a good job. I think he's done a great job of managing his players. He'skeel. Our players don't see panic if he keeps his temperament the same. He will lose his cool from time to time.

The Yankees approach at the deadline has come under scrutiny due to the struggles of Montas early on. Cashman said that Montas' play has been affected by a shoulder injury and the death of his family.

Cashman said that they were unaware of him being out of pocket. He hasn't gotten out of the gate as well because he was out for 10 to 12 days before his next start, and then he was down for a period of time.

Cashman compared the struggles of the Yankees team to the World Series disappointment of the 2021. The group has shown that it can perform at a top level despite expected adversity.

Cashman believes in the group. I believe in this group. Our owners believe in this group. It's a good crew that's dedicated, hungry, and talented, that's just happened to play poorly for a little longer than we would have expected based on how we got out of the gate. I won't just forget that.
