The performance of the team as a whole is more important than the selection of Robertnchez.

It was a bad result for West Ham and confirmed that their loss to Forest was not a one-off. The Seagulls look like a match for any team.

If they had gone in, the best side of victory would have been robbed. West ham needs to find their rhythm quickly. The fans will turn on David if not.

Defenders

The highlight of Trippier's performance was his superbly taken free- kick.

Trippier was prepared to put himself in harms way for his team. The tackle on Kevin de Bruyne was reckless and cynical and should not have been reversed.

He wanted to stop the player, not hurt him. I understand that it's a point, but it's irrelevant because it was the cynicism that should have been punished. Video evidence gives the referee a second and third chance to review his decision. The referee's decision and the referee's opinion matter.

He scored an own goal in the first game of the season and netted his first goal in English football in the second game. The person knows how to make a difference.

It's one thing helping your team keep a clean sheet away from home, but then to go hunting for goals at the same time is enough to make me pay attention. He definitely knows how to score a goal. His finish against a Bournemouth side that was completely out of their depth was brilliant.

I was critical of the performance of Lisandro Martinez in the Manchester United game and I wondered if the man had what it took to manage the club. Both came up big against the Reds. Ten Hag showed real metal to leave out Harry Maguire and other superstars and instead invested in youth, while the other looked like a centre-back who had finally come to terms with the physical nature of the league. They haven't been as good as they could have been this year. United have lifted off.

Midfielders

Allan Saint-Maximin is a player that can make things happen in a football match.

The air of expectancy is felt at St James' Park when the Frenchman gets the ball. It was the same when Gascoigne, Waddle and Ginola were there. The ball players are loved by the fans of the club. The same mold is used for Saint-Maximin. He was at the center of everything that happened.

He set up Almiron to score, took City apart to assist Wilson and caused panic in the visitors' ranks when he set up Trippier to score. It was a touch of class.

The finish by Silva gave Manchester City a well- deserved point. The entire move made me happy. It was Silva's finish in the white-hot atmosphere of St James' Park that made me proud to be an American.

The opening and assist for Gundogan was provided by the Portugal international. Two teams went for the jugular and this was a great game to watch.

There is something cultured about Martin Odegaard. He is very comfortable playing with the ball. Even though Gabriel Jesus created both of his goals, his second goal was better than his first one.

The new club captain is Mikel Arteta. The Norwegian seems to have a different temperament than the others. I'm afraid that both of them have worn the captain's armband in the past but haven't done it again.

A week after playing Spurs off the park at Stamford Bridge, the Blues looked like a comedy of errors against Elland Road. The team that I saw was made to look like a mid-table side in the premier league.

Thomas Tuchel needs to start directing some of his anger towards his players. Elland Road used to be hated by every team that went there and now it looks like it's back to normal.

Since leaving Manchester City, Harrison has not looked back.

Forwards

What is happening atLeicester? Youri Tielemans looks like he's leaving, and there's one foot out of the door.

It's not fair to the manager, the players or the fans to expect a performance in an environment where there is so much uncertainty. The club needs to get through this window quickly.

When Adams came on against the Foxes, he changed the game for the Saints. When you have a genuine goal scorer in your team, you are always in with a chance of scoring.

I'm not sure if the defeat against Cottagers was a sign of how bad Manchester United were last week against the Bees or just how serious we are now.

Within a short time, the victory over United was over.

I've seen a lot of movement from the Serbia international, but this one was as good as I've ever seen. He is in the best shape of his life and should have had a hat-trick. The effect the premier league has on some players is astounding.

I thought that Wilfried Zaha should have won the game for Crystal Palace if he had taken his chances against the Reds. The visitors were shredded by the unpredictable and impulsive talent of this team. There isn't much a team can do to stop him.

The problem for Patrick is that he doesn't do what he does best often enough, which is why he hasn't moved to a top four club. I'd like to see him put his talents to the test in Europe. It would be great to know how good this boy is.

The Crooks of the matter

The game that took place at Stamford Bridge last Sunday was very similar to the one that took place in the 1980's. The game has been stopped by the referees. The VAR is less inclined to interfere now that they have started with their irrelevancies.

The occasional mistake by the officials and VAR will add to the colour of the event. Football is not a game of science and luck, but a game of chance. The premier league was wise to allow the most physical league in the world to breathe life into itself again because part of the game was dying and some fans were losing interest.

Both managers behaved badly in the match. Even though it was only the second game of the season, the stakes were still very high as evidenced by the childish and unnecessary dismissals of Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte.

I wasn't sure if the two men were doing the two step or not but the FA was right not to punish them. How can managers insist that their players do things when they can't control themselves?
