Man United bounced back from a difficult start to the season with a win at Old Trafford, thanks to goals from Jadon Sancho and MarcusRashford. The victory is a big deal for United as they try to turn around a club in disarray.

The report states that Man United thumped Reds.

Here is our reaction to the match.

Player ratings, best and worst performers, highlights and notable moments, post- match quotes, and key statistics are included.

Rapid reaction

This is the first thing. United start their season without two of their best players.

When the teams were announced, ten Hag showed he could change things quickly, despite the fact that around 10,000 fans had gathered outside.

It takes some self-belief to drop both your club captain and your beloved centre-forward for a game of this magnitude. The difference in performance from their insipid defeat at Brentford could hardly have been starker as Ten Hag secured his first career victory.

Maybe it was the people protesting. The supporters of the opposition were chanting "Up the Glazers" as they arrived at the stadium to watch the game. United kicked-start the Ten Hag reign with a performance full of hunger, discipline and counter- attacking quality that had been almost entirely absent in their opening two games.

It's been a long time since United fans wanted an exciting vision of the future.

There are two They came alive.

The hopes of making the England's World Cup squad hang by a thread for both Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford, who have recently gone through rough times. In front of goal, he has struggled for composure, but he showed plenty of it after 16 minutes at Old United, collecting Anthony Elanga's low cross in a central position. Realising he had time, he dropped his shoulder and side-footed past Alisson for his first United goal.

After spending the summer working on his fitness in an attempt to reignite his career, Marcus Rashford appeared short of confidence and wasteful in front of goal as United failed to translate their superiority to the score beyond the strike of Jadon Sancho. When Anthony Martial came on at half-time, he sent Marcusford clear and he scored his 60th goal of the season. He is the 10th United player to reach that milestone.

The revival had to begin somewhere and here were two performances that both could build on.

There are three. It's been slow in the transfer market, so it's time for the Reds to get back into it.

There was a lot of concern before the game about the number of missing players. Even without players missing, this was still a line-up that should have produced far more than they did, despite the fact that they were missing some key players.

Trent Alexander-Arnold's defense was questionable in the first half. Right-back issues were caused by Elanga. The way Sadio Mane used to set the press without the ball was missed by the Reds. The injury picture will get better before long, but two points from their opening three games will heighten pressure on the club to enter the market before deadline day, where they were out-fought and out-thought in the middle of the park.

The foundation of their success has been their habit of waiting for preferred targets instead of bolstering numbers. Ten days of temptation await them.

Best and worst performers

Lisandro is the best.

He had a rough start to his United career. It was a close call between him and Varane for the honours, but it was a fine effort from the pair.

The worst was Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Elanga was given a rough ride early on and was unable to use the ball as effectively as he usually does.

Highlights and notable moments

Manager Ten Hag was willing to let the media know of his lineup decisions before the game, as he was able to introduce Casemiro before the game. This time, he was correct.

After the match: What the managers, players said

It means a great deal. The first two games didn't go as well as we would have liked. We showed the fans what we could do after last week's injury and we knew we had to bounce back.

You can see how the fans are reacting to it. We got three points, but we need to get more. In every game, we have to produce. We got the three points and moved on.

The players were told not to talk a lot. You need to be a team and battle. It is also about spirit out of possession. Sometimes strikers feel like they can't do it because they have to save their energy. You can see that it's a demand now. The manager of Man United said it made him happy.

It wasn't the start we wanted. Pick up our performances individually and collectively. It's easy to talk about it in the changing room, but we need to go out and do it. We have to stop giving up goals. Today, they started better than us. It needs to be different.

For the game tonight, I like the line-up despite missing many players. The performances were good, but not good enough to win the game. It wouldn't be the biggest surprise in the world if we scored in a situation like the one we are in. It was a deserved draw after a start where United looked sharper than us but it wasn't long and in the situation.

Key stats (provided by ESPN Stats & Information)

Manchester United have never lost a home game when leading at half time. The last home league defeat for the RedDevils was in May 1984 when they were leading at halftime of a game.

Marcus Rashford is second in the league with five goals.

It was the most goals in a single game in the history of the club. The Egyptian has scored seven goals in four road matches against United. He has scored more goals against Man United than any other team.

Their 21-game run in the premier league came to an end on Monday.

The victory was Man United's first of the season and snaps a four-game PL losing streak dating back to last season -- that had been the club's longest such streak in league history Man United's eight-game winless streak over the Reds in the premier league is over.

Up next

Next up for Manchester United is a trip to St. Mary's in the premier league followed by a trip toLeicester City.

The Reds get little time to rest before a pair of games over the next 10 days.
