Manchester United vs. Liverpool

On Monday night, Manchester United picked up their first win of the season with a 2-1 victory over archrivals.

It was only the third game of the season for both sides, but Man United got a huge three points thanks to goals from Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford. The Reds were able to score a late goal, but Manchester United held on for the victory.

A large group of United fans angry at the direction of the club under American owners took part in a protest outside Old Manchester.

The hosts came in without a point from their first two matches, but at 16 minutes Sancho picked up a pass and calmly shot past Alisson to give United the lead.

The rest of the first half was dominated by United and they took a lead into the break.

The home side's advantage was doubled shortly after the restart with a lovely finish past Alisson from Anthony Martial's pass that left him with only the keeper to beat.

The Old Trafford crowd roared on their team throughout the rest of the second half as they sought to get back into the game.

The Reds were without a win this season, but they were able to get a goal back in the 81st minute, but they couldn't find the winner.

There was a lot for Ten Hag to be encouraged by, but he will likely be happy with the performances of two of his new signings.

In the centre of defence, Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane were outstanding while Tyrell Malacia was tenacious.

Casemiro was unveiled before the game and watched from a box after completing his transfer from Real Madrid.

The result lifted Ten Hag's side off the foot of the table into 14th place, while last season's second-place finishers are in 16th with just two points from three games.
