Herschel Walker is against the new climate law because there are too many trees.

Herschel Walker, a Republican from Georgia, said the new climate law is unnecessary because it sets aside money for planting and protecting trees.

They try to make you believe they are helping you out. Some of the money is going into trees. Don't we have enough trees around here? Walker told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he was in Georgia.

The planet doesn't have enough trees to stop burning fossil fuels.

The number of trees on the earth is less than at the beginning of human civilization, and not nearly enough to counteract the effects of climate change.

The Forest Service's Urban and Community Forestry Program funds tree-planting in cities like Atlanta that struggle with poor air quality because of the inflation reduction act. Scientists agree that trees help to reduce air pollution and temperatures in lower income areas.

The World Economic Forum's Trillion Trees Initiative is an ambitious effort to bring together government and the private sector to plant new trees in America and around the world. Climate advocates opposed the order because it didn't do anything to mitigate the cause of climate change and encouraged logging.

The $750 billion Inflation Reduction Act, which addresses climate change, health care and prescription drug costs, is a major plank of the Democrats' domestic agenda.

It is not the first time that the Republican Senate candidate has caused controversy with his climate commentary.

Walker's campaign provided his full remarks from the event, which showed he also cited the law's provision for additional IRS agents as further reckless spending, and questioned whether the law in general would actually decrease inflation as promised.

The comments surfaced after Senate Minority LeaderMitch McConnell commented on the quality of GOP candidates running in this year's election.

One of the nation's mostcontested battlegrounds is where Walker is running to oust the incumbent Democratic senator.

McConnell said last week that there was a better chance the House would flip than the Senate. Candidate quality is important in Senate races.

The remarks were seen as a dig against Walker, who has struggled to stay on message as well as explain why he hadn't disclosed two of his children.
