A lawsuit was filed by Donald Trump on Monday asking a judge to appoint a special watchdog to review documents seized from his Florida home as part of a criminal investigation of records that had been removed from the White House.

The lawsuit states that the FBI raid was politically motivated and that the Department of Justice should not be allowed to review seized materials from his Mar-a-Lago residence.

Special masters are appointed in criminal cases when there is a concern that some material seized by authorities should not be seen by investigators because it is protected by attorney-client privilege or other concerns.

Should he decide to run, the suit says that Trump is the clear front-runner in both the Republican presidential primary and general election of the year.

The suit says politics can't affect the justice system.

According to the report, the government told Trump's counsel that some of the seized items were potentially privileged.

The government hasn't provided any information about the nature of the documents.
