Dr. Fauci will continue to work through the end of the year. The director of the NIAID made a statement Monday. The Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and the Chief of the NIAID Laboratory of Immunoregulation will be stepping down. He says that he will be leaving his positions in December to pursue a new career path. Fauci isn't sure what he will do next. It has been an honor for Fauci to serve in his role for the past 38 years, not to mention his previous 15 years at the NIAID. His statement is graceful. Many talented and dedicated people have worked with and learned from me in my own lab. I want them to know that I am grateful. Fauci has served under many presidents, including Lyndon Johnson, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush. Along the way, Dr. Fauci has helped Americans combat major viruses that have plagued society in the 20th and 21st centuries -- including instrumental research and work in regards to the He contributed to HIV/AIDS research. Fauci's work is defined by the time he was in the trenches. The discussion of treatments at the time was heavily criticized. He's been a lightning rod for a long time because of his role in the federal government's response to health-related outbreaks. It was probably the most crystalized of the last few months. Many people will remember. When it came to discussing the coronaviruses, Fauci was often fighting against his boss, DT, who wanted people to be cautious and get vaccine. He kept his calm and stayed the course. Fauci has not always been right from the beginning, but he always pivots when more information is available. Nobody can deny that amount. One of the most dedicated public servants we have had in a long time. Sir, well done.
