Ellen White has decided to retire from football.
She scored a record 52 goals for the Lionesses.
White played for a number of different teams before she joined City.
She made her England debut in March of 2010 against Austria.
The Lionesses won their first major women's tournament last month when they beat Germany in the final of the Euros.
She would have equalled Wayne Rooney's record of 53 goals for England if she had continued.
"This has been one of the most difficult decisions of my life, but one that I know is the right decision for me," said White.
I have wanted to make this decision for a long time. The next generation will shine and I will say goodbye to football.
This game has been my greatest honor and privilege. The greatest gift is playing for England.
On July 31st, I became a European champion.
There's more to come.
