How Zach Wilson's injury could impact his development this season (0:58)

Wilson's injury could affect his development in his second year with the Jets. There is a time and a place.

Some of the players drafted in 2008 are still on the roster. The New York Jets have a quarterback and a left tackle. When Brown signed, the '08 classmates talked about it.

We joked about it. I think it's a blessing. It's a good thing.

Yes for them. It could be a serious matter for the Jets.

The organization will start the season with a 35-year-old left tackle protecting the blind side of a 35-year-old quarterback, assuming that Wilson isn't ready by the first week of the season.

According to data from 1950, no team has ever started a game with an offensive tackle or a quarterback older than 37 years old.

The Jets had to change their flight plan because of two knee injuries in a five-day period. Mekhi Becton is out for the season due to avulsion fracture in his knee cap. Wilson was next.

The Jets are going back to their old ways. They're having a good time with it.

"I feel like I'm like a dad that's easy to pick on, and they like laughing at me because of that," he said of his younger teammates. I accept it.

There is a juxtaposition on offense. If the older guys don't do their jobs, the season could get derailed early.

The Jets avoided a season-ending injury with Wilson, who is expected to miss about a month, but the injury jeopardizes the possibility of a fast start and threatens to erase the positive vibes from a productive off-season. It's important to show the fan base that this won't be the same old Jets. In the month of September, they have lost 12 in a row, with the most recent win coming in Sam Darnold's first start.

"Positive vibes only" is the T-shirt that coaches and players wear. September will be out of style if you go oh-fer that month.

"We haven't even begun to deal with adversity yet," said Robert. It is said that you get three adverse moments a year, so we are still in the thick of it. I like our group very much. The makeup of this team makes me happy.

K.C. has an offense.

They're lucky to have a player like Flacco who is unflappable and doesn't get flustered. He has lost his winning touch in recent years, but he still has a great resume. His youngest teammates were in their preteens when he won the Super Bowl. They watched him play against the San Francisco 49ers in the Superbowl. He is on their sideline and in their huddle.

They want to know what it was like to play with Ray Lewis and Ed Reed in the past. He gets those questions from time to time. If he's still the quarterback, that's a great storyline.

Moore said he's watched him his whole life. I was surprised it was him when I arrived. Some people are on the sideline. They think it's Joe Flacco. He's a great person.

He could be charged with stabilizing the franchise. Things began to fall apart at about 11 o'clock on the morning of August 8th. One of the most accomplished tackles in the sport was signed by the general manager to keep his quarterback protected. Brown started every game for the Seattle Seahawks last season.

One of the most accomplished tackles in the sport still didn't have a team in the middle of August due to his 37th birthday.

Brown said that his opponents would tell you that he was playing at a high level. The criticisms are justified because there aren't many people playing this age. I just get on the field and show what I can do. I intend to do that.

According to Pro Football Focus, Brown played well last year, allowing eight sacks and committing only five penalties. He played in a division that included several elite edge rushers, including Von Miller and Nick Bosa.

Three of the eight could've been coverage sacks if you look at the tape. One of the sacks came on a bull rush. He got beat a few times, but it was still an impressive year.

Brown is a great technician, according to Jets offensive line coach John Benton, who worked with him in Houston. That has made him successful.

Four offensive linemen in the 35-and-up category signed in July or later in the last year. It doesn't happen a lot.

Age and the calendar are both factors. Brown won't play in Monday's game against Atlanta because he hasn't participated in team drills yet. They face the Ravens in the first week of the season.

The starting five on the offensive line still haven't had a full practice together, and that could cause problems with two new players and two players learning a new position. McGovern is the only holdover from a year ago.

It's imperative that we work together a lot for the continuity issue.

After he missed most of the 2021 season due to knee surgery, the Jets made a bet on him staying healthy. The decision didn't work out well. One of the key building blocks of Douglas has an uncertain future.

Fant's move back to right tackle was necessitated by Douglas turning to Brown. He can't be happy with the 11th-hour change, but he says you have to be a pro in certain situations.

The Jets have two tackles and two guards. Wilson's return is needed to solidify the shuffled line. He was the focal point of their rebuild because of his health and development. It will be an indictment of Douglas and Saleh if Wilson doesn't improve his performance.

He had a lot of growth last year and we are expecting more growth this year.

Brown is his blindside protection. The sixth pick of the 2008 draft was used by the Jets on Vernon Gholston. They traded for a former first-round tackle in 2008. The trade was aborted because he failed the physical. They tried to get Ryan Clady to replace D'Brickashaw Ferguson. His body broke quickly after the trade backfired.

They're relying on the 2008ers again.

When these guys come up to you and say something to you, I think I'm 50 years old. I've gotten it.

The man was smiling.
