When he was hospitalized, Dr. Dre didn't know how serious the situation was.
He was in the intensive care unit for two weeks and woke up every hour for tests.
Dr. Dre said that he was hospitalized last year after having a brainneurysm.
Dr. Dre said that he was taken to Cedars-Sinai hospital in January of 2021. The clip of the interview was shared on Diverse Mentality's account.
"I'm at Cedars-Sinai hospital and they weren't allowing anyone to come up, meaning visitors or family or anything like that, but they allowed my family to come in." They called me up because they thought I was out of town.
Dr. Dre said that he didn't know how serious the situation was when his family came. Dr. Dre's visitors were able to visit at that time because many hospitals had restricted visitor access.
Dr. Dre said nobody told him. I didn't know what to think. That was insane.
During his stay in the intensive care unit, Dr. Dre was woken up every hour to run medical tests. He didn't eat during that time.
They had to wake me up every hour for two weeks to do the tests because of what was happening in my brain. "Sobriety tests include touching your nose, rubbing your heels on your calf, and all that shit."
Dr. Dre updated his followers on his account after he was hospitalized.
I am receiving excellent care from my medical team. I will be out of the hospital in a couple of weeks. He wrote that he wanted to shout out to the medical professionals at Cedars.
He told the Los Angeles Times that high blood pressure could be to blame.
I've never had hypertension. I have taken care of my health my whole life. He told the outlet that he never saw something like that happening with Black men. I am taking care of myself. I think every black man should check his blood pressure.
According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Strokes, it's not clear how many people in the US have cerebral aneurysms. According to the institute, about 30,000 Americans suffer brain aneurysms annually.
