The Atlanta home crowd booed Marcell Ozuna in his first appearance since being arrested for driving under the influence.

Ozuna was released on bond later that day. It was the second arrest in as many years for Ozuna, who was charged with assault by strangulation and battery after police officers said they saw him attacking his wife. After completing a diversion program, the charges were dropped.

Ozuna was booed by the crowd at Truist Park before his first at-bat in the second game of the series against the Astros. Ozuna was booed by the crowd after he struck out against the Astros right-handed pitcher.

Ozuna played in the game for the first time since August. Braves manager Brian Snitker spoke to Ozuna but didn't give any information about their conversation. Snitker didn't know if Ozuna would be suspended.

The organization takes these matters very seriously and are obviously disappointed by the situation, but declined further comment. Ozuna made a brief statement to reporters and did not take questions.

Ozuna is in his third season in Atlanta and has a $65 million four-year contract.

Ozuna's subpar production led to reduced playing time even before he was arrested on Friday.

Ozuna missed the World Series championship run after being placed on administrative leave during an MLB investigation. In November, he was suspended for 20 games for domestic violence. He was able to return for the start of the 2020 season because of the suspension.

Ozuna's diversion program included 3-6 months of supervision, a 24 week family violence intervention program, 200 hours of community service and an anger management course.
