Dennis Rodman, a former NBA player, is said to be trying to bring the basketball player back to the US.

The seven-time All-Star for the Phoenix Mercury has been held in Russia since February and was recently sentenced to nine years in prison.

Rodman said he was given permission to go to Russia to help the girl. I'm going this week.

The Hall of Fame basketball player believes his relationship with the Russian President will help in the effort to help the young man.

He said he knew Putin too well.

Rodman has a long history of informal international relations. Rodman was on the sidelines of Donald Trump's meeting with Kim in Singapore last year.

The United States State Department has classified "wrongfully detain" as the reason for her sentencing.

According to statements written by her lawyers, she was prescribed cannabis to treat pain and the canisters of cannabis oil were in her luggage.

The Secretary of State said that the United States made a proposal to Russia in order to get the two Americans released.

During the 1999-2000 NBA season, Rodman played for the Detroit Pistons, San Antonio Spurs, Chicago Bulls, LA Lakers, and Dallas Mavericks.
