Qantas has announced more status support for elite members of its Frequent Flyer program as part of an apology effort for its poor performance.
The status extension is one of the ways the carrier wants to get back in the good graces after CEO Alan Joyce hung his head in shame.
According to several Australian news sources and the Executive Traveler, Qantas sent out an email to QFF members this morning with a message from Alan Joyce and highlighted the benefits members can expect in the coming weeks.
In the video, Alan Joyce makes a statement.
… ‘Over the past few months, too many of you have had flights delayed, flights canceled and bags misplaced.’
‘There are good reasons why, but when it comes to what you expect from Qantas, it’s not good enough. On behalf of the national carrier, I want to apologize and assure you that we’re working hard to get back to our best.’
The key offer: ’12 months status extension across tiered members Silver and above to continue to enjoy the benefits associated with their tier for another year.’ …
Qantas has extended the status of their QFF members a number of times.
Qantas Extends Membership Tiers Expiring Through End Of 2022 By 12 Months
If a single Qantas/Jetstar flight is credited to the account, QFF members will be able to keep their status through to December 23, 2023.
The length of the apology extension has not been revealed. Even without a flight, one would assume through all of the years. More about this should be released by the airline in the near future.
There are more goodies in the video that aren't currently available on the QF website.
We have to be careful because a lot of this is vague and requires more info.
It was the conclusion.
Qantas operations have been in a state of disrepair since the beginning of the year due to staff shortages and other factors. They rolled out a program where managers will change from pushing papers to working as baggage handler on a voluntary basis, which the unions condemned as dangerous as the executives didn't have enough training.
Qantas CEO Alan Joyce apologized and offered benefits to Frequent Flyer members in an email he sent to customers. Status extensions, vouchers, lounge invitations, and free points are included in the benefits.
