Chris Cokinos remembers huddling close to the television set and using an old fashioned clunky tape recorder to record the news, which included everything from the Apollo missions to updates from Skylab.

He imagined going to space when he played the recordings back to himself.

The University of Arizona creative writing professor will be taking a flight into the Earth's stratosphere with one of the more affordable space tourism operators.

It is a childhood dream for people to say it is a childhood dream.

Commercial space flights will be offered by World View for $50,000 per flight. The amount of money charged by other space tourism operators is hundreds of thousands of dollars. The cost of Virgin's space flight will be $450,000. Blue Origin flights range from $28 million to $50 million per passenger.

The longest waiting list of customers of all space tourism companies is held by World View. The smallest deposit is required to reserve a spot.

Ryan Hartman, World View's CEO, says it's all about making space tourism accessible.

Hartman told Insider that they have to make this as affordable as possible.

The cost of the World View mission is still too much for many people. World View's flight cost will not be a problem for Cokinos. Young customers, who aren't near retirement age, are one of the reasons the startup is offering financing packages.

Hartman said that he was thinking about the Gen Z or the young people who value experiences more than things. They will figure out how to make $50,000 a year.

According to Hartman, the fully-autonomous hexagonal-shaped space capsule will ascend up to 100,000 feet, nearly double that of commercial airplanes and high enough to see the entire Earth.

Cokinos is a poet and writer of nonfiction on nature and the environment. Getting a chance to see the moon up close is something that is exciting for him.

Personal viewing screens for each passenger are included in World View's capsule. This part of the flight is in line with Cokinos' passion for outer space.

He stated that he was on an expedition. It was a little bit like being on another planet, and I could only compare it to this.

The first World View flight will take off from the Grand Canyon.

He knows a lot about the Grand Canyon and is excited to get a new perspective.

He said it felt necessary to see the Earth's shape and to think about its pre-carity.
