Joshua breaks down in his post-fight press conference after loss to Usyk

After losing his world-title challenge to Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia, Anthony Joshua broke down in tears.

Joshua was asked if he was proud of his performance.

He said it was hard for him to say he was proud of himself. I'm very upset in my heart.

The two-time world champion then covered his face with his hands and took a deep breath.

Joshua spoke to the media.

Since turning professional nine years ago, the 2012 Olympic gold medal winner has become a household name.

He said the pressure and intrusion he faces costs him.

Joshua said, "It will never break me but it takes real strength not to break me and tonight there is a little crack in the armour because that took a long time."

'When you're angry you do stupid things'

Joshua threw two of the champion's belts out of the ring and argued with the opposing team after Usyk's hand was raised.

Joshua said that people aren't going to understand when you try and do things from your heart.

It came from within. I was angry at myself. It wasn't at anyone or myself. I wanted to go out here because I'm angry.

You could do stupid things when you are angry. This is a game. I returned and did the right thing.

He gave a passionate defence of his fighter.

I want my children to look up to someone like this.

He gives everyone his time if he is out in public. One of the nice guys is him. He is a winner.

Today's emotion was raw. Someone who wanted to win a lot.

He said he would like to see Joshua be more active. He wants Joshua to come back in December and have at least three fights in the following years.

Two and half years have passed since Joshua fought Usyk.

I fight for my life. That hunger doesn't go away. Joshua said he would be a fighter for life.
