Brady and Gronk as Raiders? Dana White says it was really close (2:16)

According to Dana White, Tom Brady was close to becoming a Raider before Jon Gruden decided against it. 2 minutes later.

Dana White said he helped broker a deal for quarterback Tom Brady to play for the Las Vegas Raiders when he was a free agent in 2020, but that the deal was nullified at the last minute.

During the "UFC with the Gronks" broadcast on Saturday night, White was persuaded to tell the story by Rob.

White worked to get Brady and Gronk to join the Raiders. It was pretty much done. All hell broke loose when Gruden said that he didn't want him and he blew the deal up. It wasn't normal.

Brady was looking at homes. The person didn't say that Gronk was going to be there. If the Bucs had won the Super Bowl, Las Vegas would have had Brady and Gronak.

There is a lot of story that goes with this.

The Raiders had a new head coach in October 2021. When Brady was a free agent in 2020, the Raiders planned to pursue him, according to a report by a senior analyst. He was a part of the team that won the Super Bowl that year.

White said that the Raiders could have brought Gropu to them. At the time, he was under contract with the Pats. In the spring, the Pats traded Gronkowski to the Bolts.

He said he was happy that things worked out the way they did.

On the show, he said he was glad it didn't happen. It all worked out for the best of us. I'm glad we went to the other side of the country. The thing just worked out. I really like that place.

Messages were not immediately returned to Brady's agent and representatives from the Raiders.

Brady hasn't been in training camp this preseason, but he's been the quarterback for the past two seasons. In 2020, Carr completed 67.3% of his passes for 4,103 yards, 27 touchdown and nine pick ups, and 68.4% of his passes for 4,804 yards, 23 touchdown and 14 pick ups.

White wasn't going to tell that story until he was asked about it.

The report was contributed to by an employee of the sports network.
