Three more satellites were launched by China on Friday, bringing the total to four.

The Long March 2D rocket took off. The three satellites were flown from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Sichuan province on August 19th.

Three sets of Yaogan 35 satellite triplets are expected to be launched in June and July of this year. With an inclination of 35 degrees, the first nine satellites are circling around at a altitude of 500 kilometers above Earth.

Most of the time descriptions of their uses are vague.

According to the Chinese state media, the newly launched spaceship will mainly be used to conduct science experiments, land resource surveys, yield estimation of agricultural products and disaster prevention and reduction.

Western space analysts think that the Yaogan series satellites are used by both civil and military users in China.

SAST, the manufacturer of the Long March 2D rocket that was used for the launch, has released a mission patch that shows the drag sail that was carried by the mission.

The drag sail was put on a Long March 2D launch. China has launched its 32nd mission of the year.
