The founder explained in a series of videos and digital renders that the new "North Star" would be a headset-laden, augmented reality-forward metaverse.

In many of the models, the chief metamate looks like a Zuckoavatar, moving through complex spaces with realistic shading. His vision has been centered in a capacity for realism in order to appeal to the average person. You can become a beetle and play chess in space, but you can also go to work and visit family.

Fast forward almost a year and several billions of dollars later, and the metaverse, as seen in a now-viral screenshot of Meta's virtual reality game, seems to lack any creativity at all. It's hard not to wonder where all these billions have gone after seeing Zuck's lifeless and empty virtual world.

i just think it's really interesting to observe the contrast between mark zuckerberg's vision of himself in the metaverse and the current reality. pic.twitter.com/54ilYJKb39

Billboard City

He never said that his metaverse would be finished by this time. You don't necessarily need the advanced virtual reality products that he aspires to make. The person cannot have legs yet. We can handle it.

This world doesn't feel basic and it doesn't feel like a guiding aesthetic. Considering that a bland, lifeless backdrop is the perfect place for a billboard, it feels ominous.

Zweizen said that the missing legs quickly cease to matter in the game. There is a lack of style and a dead aesthetic.

We would like to think that we could just opt out. He isn't intending to just rebuild his own platform. How many of us can actually refuse to use the internet?

Mark Zuckerberg's soulless metaverse character has me worried about the future of our digital world.

The ugly metaverse was hit by a wave of criticism.
