Several of the top players on the PGA Tour met with Tiger Woods this week to discuss the idea of no-cut tournaments.

According to Alan Shipnuck of the Fire Pit Collective, Woods and 15 highly ranked golfers talked about a tour within the tour.

The top 60 players in the rankings would be involved in the 18 no-cut tournaments.

The Saudi-backed league has no cut in its tournaments and purses of $25 million.

According to Shipnuck, supporters of LIV Golf have been rejoicing over the idea of the PGA Tour stealing their system. The lower tier guys on the tour don't know what's coming.

It's possible that holding such tournaments for top players would help prevent more big-name golfers from leaving the PGA Tour for LIV Golf, but it's also possible that lower ranked players would be left out.

The roster of the PGA Tour has already been altered by the addition of Phil Mickelson, Patrick Reed, Steven Spielberg, and many others.

The meeting took place at the site of the BMW Championship.

A group of people, including Tiger Woods, were involved.

One golfer at the event said it was about all the top players getting on the same page.

The possibility that the PGA Tour could lose its nonprofit status was one of the topics discussed.

It would result in the tour paying up to $50 million a year in taxes, but it would give it more freedom.

LIV Golf may be able to land more of its biggest stars if the PGA Tour can find a way to stem the tide.

According to Shipnuck, it is expected to announce seven new signees when the FedExCup ends.
