If you see a spider hanging upside down in your apartment, it could be a sign that it's sleeping.
When Rler first saw jumping spiders in her lab in 2020, she made a mistake. The findings of Rler's research team were published in the journal.
Rler was originally interested in studying predator-prey interactions in spiders. She used baby spiders to film the animals at night.
We and many animals experienceREM when we sleep. While the eyes are closed, activities in the body such as heart rate increase.

The research team observed the animals twitching their limbs as they watched the spiders. The findings show that a sleep-like state could be found in spiders. Fruit flies sleep. This is the first time the REM pattern has been documented in a spider.
It's possible that sleep to us may or may not be in a spider. According to Rler, the evidence isn't yet certain, despite the research team's findings suggesting that spiders do sleep.
"If we really want to understand the function of sleep, we need to look at it where it happens."
Rler is planning to conduct sleep studies in a field atmosphere instead of studying them in an artificial lab environment. She said that if we want to understand the function of sleep, we need to look at where it happened.
The lab setting produced great results. Mark Blumberg is a professor at the University of Iowa who studies twitching and REM sleep in rats and human infants. This new study did not include Blumberg.

It's difficult to study sleep in animals because they might experience sleep differently than us. I agree with a lot of the findings. I don't agree with a lot of the things that are said about it. He explained that the nervous system of a spider or fly is different from that of a rat or a human and so we can't expect all features of sleep to be the same.
Rler looked at the possibility of spiders dreaming during sleep, thanks to the eye movement patterns they experience in REM sleep. Humans have hallucinogenic dreams during REM sleep. There is a chance of studying the existence of visual dreams in spiders. In his opinion, the dream connection is not good.
"I think we're gonna find amazing things in the next couple years."
Rler is wondering if he can dream in spiders. She wants to understand if humans can comprehend how a spider dreams. She said that humans always have biases in trying to understand the world.
There is more to know about sleep in animals. There may be more to come. Rler thinks we're going to find amazing things in the next couple years.
