Many long-haul routes were stopped due to border restrictions and low international demand during the Pandemic.

Ultra-long-haul routes, like Qantas' Perth to London and Delta Air Lines' Atlanta to South Africa flights, were suspended. Since COVID-era restrictions have been lifted in most nations, carriers are once again ferrying passengers on flights longer than 15 hours.

The world's longest flight was held by Singapore Airlines, which traveled 9,534 miles between Newark Liberty International Airport and Singapore. In November 2020 Singapore returned to New York City but instead flew to JFK.

The decision was made to better accommodate a mix of passenger and cargo traffic on its services to New York. According to the Official Airline Guide, the new world's longest flight was just two nautical miles over Newark.

Singapore flies to New York-JFK and Newark and has made sure the trip is comfortable. In order to help with things like indigestion, the airline has created a "wellness" menu that has "farm-to-plane" meals.

The list of the world's 10 longest flights is no longer the same. The routes vary in length from 15 hours to 19 hours.

The distances and duration listed are based on the carrier's flight time. The conflict in Ukraine could cause airlines to fly further than the routes on the list, like the planned route between New York-JFK and Hong Kong that never materialized.

Some routes on the top 10 may be surpassed by other flights. Qantas operated a service from Buenos Aires, Argentina, to Darwin, Australia, in October 2021. The longest passenger flight in the airline's history was flown by the 787-9 aircraft.

Some airlines are planning to fly the world's longest flights, including Air New Zealand. The world's fourth-longest route will be launched by the carrier on September 17th.

As of August 2022, the world's top 10 longest flights are listed.
