Lawyers say Donald Trump's Fourth Amendment defense won't work.

A "major motion" related to the Fourth Amendment will soon be filed, according to a post on Truth Social by Donald Trump.

The former president's home in Palm Beach, Florida, was searched by the FBI earlier this month. Legal experts said that the warrant must have been supported by evidence.

The search was part of an investigation into whether Trump had violated three laws, one of which was the Espionage Act.

Despite being approved by the Attorney General, the FBI search was denounced by Trump and his allies.

The raid on Trump's home was described as an "illegal break-in" by the president in his Friday night Truth Social post.

The rights of the former president and all Americans were violated at a level not seen before in our country.

The Fourth Amendment

The Fourth Amendment states, "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated."

His Fourth Amendment defense is likely to fail if the major motion is filed.

Legal experts used social media to question the motion.

The former deputy assistant attorney general wrote that Trump promised a "major motion pertaining to the 4th Am' re MAL search". He will surely lose if he means a motion to suppress evidence.

"Wait until he finds out that SCOTUS has made it virtually impossible to file lawsuits against federal law enforcement officers for egregious violations of the Fourth Amendment," wrote Steve Vladeck.

The office of Trump's post-presidency didn't reply immediately.
