Los Angeles Police Department is stepping up efforts to address illegal street takeovers with a new measure that could cause participants' cars to disappear real soon.

Anyone caught participating in a street takeover will have their vehicle seized for up to 30 days, according to Fox LA11.

The cars are going to disappear soon.

The latest move by the Los Angeles Police Department is to target takeovers that have surged during the Pandemic.

"We really want to stop this from becoming a new trend where they show up and take over a street or a freeway or any part of the city, that they're just going to be able to do whatever they want," he said.

Two street takeovers took place within an hour and a half of each other in South L.A., just over a mile away.

The shooting death of a teenage boy was the result of a street takeover late Sunday night.

After a street takeover about an hour later and 112 miles down the road in the same area, a mob stole items from a 7-Eleven store. At least one participant threw bananas and other snacks at a store employee who was hiding behind the counter.

The group ran away before police arrived.
