On Friday afternoon, Donald Trump announced he would be holding a rally for Republican candidates in Pennsylvania, including Doug Mastriano, who is running against John Fetterman for lieutenant governor.
On September 3, there will be a rally in support of the "entire Pennsylvania Trump Ticket"
The polls show both of the top candidates well behind their Democratic opponents, with Oz trailing Fetterman by 8.7 points in the latest RealClearPolitics polling average, and Mastriano trailing Josh Shapiro by 5.7 points.
According to Rolling Stone, Trump is so frustrated with Oz that he knows he'll lose.
Oz has been the victim of a relentless online campaign from Fetterman that claims he's completely out of touch with Pennsylvania voters. Fetterman raised hundreds of thousands of dollars off of a viral video showing Oz complaining about how inflation has made it more expensive for him to put together crudites, a French raw vegetable spread Fetterman said is more commonly called a "veggie tray" in Pennsylvania. Oz said in the video that he was shopping at Wegners, an apparent reference to the Redner's grocery store chains. In an interview with Newsmax this week, Oz said he was exhausted at the time and had gotten his kids' names wrong. Fetterman lived in New Jersey for a long time before moving to Pennsylvania. Fetterman is in favor of putting Oz in the New Jersey Hall of Fame. The Mastriano-Shapiro contest has been more conventional than the Senate contest.
The Pennsylvania Senate race is considered to be the best chance for Democrats to win a seat in the fall. Pat Toomey is leaving the Senate.
Fetterman has a double-digit lead over Oz.
Dr. Oz declared victory in the Pennsylvania senate contest.
Doug Mastriano won the Republican primary for governor.
