John Toshack's managerial career spanned 40 years

John Toshack is on the mend after being seriously ill with Covid-19 and pneumonia.

In February, the 73-year-old was hospitalized in Spain and was out of intensive care in March.

The health of Toshack is improving according to his son.

He is making a recovery, which I am pleased to share with you, as he is on good form.

I talk to him a lot now. He's on the mend and his health is much better.

I would like to see him when the World Cup comes around. I would like to go to Barcelona or have him come back to Wales.

The condition of Toshack senior, who managed the likes of Real Madrid, was described as being very serious.

According to Toshack, the ex-Striker has given him tactical advice ahead of the game against the Blues.

He said that he was given a lesson about playing against a back three by him.

Jesse Marsch was named head coach at Elland Road.

His father was in a serious condition.

The timing was not ideal.

There were a few decisions I had to make during the first two weeks of my new job at Elland Road.

I was going to visit him but I was reassured he was in the hands of the right people.

It wouldn't have made a difference if he was there or not.

If I had gone and sat next to him in the bed, he wouldn't have been very happy.

Even though it was difficult, I spoke to a number of people close to me and they said that he would have wanted you to do it, so that's what I did.

After scoring 13 times in 40 games for Wales, he became the national team boss.

He took charge of more than a dozen clubs around the world and was the first manager in the First Division of the old Division Four.

He left his job as manager of Tractor after just three months in the job.
