Should Trump decide to run for president, Romney said he would get the GOP nomination.
He told Deseret News that someone who is not in the Trump circle would not have a realistic chance of becoming the nominee. "If he doesn't run again, I think it will be people who either were supporters of his or people who didn't say much about him and then would be open to becoming the nominee."
Cheney, a pro-impeachment Republican and member of the House Select Committee investigating the January 6 attack on the US Capitol, has repeatedly challenged Trump and has stated that she will not be stopping her criticism anytime soon.
I applaud her bravery. Courage wouldn't be called if there were no consequences for doing what you think is right. She did what she thought was correct. Romney told Deseret News that he believed she was right about Cheney facing off with a Trump supporter.
Romney said that he was not in agreement with Cheney running for president because he was trying to get the republican nomination.
