Laura Muir won her second European 1500m title in as many years.

After a steady opening to the race, Britain's Muir sprinted off the front of the pack with only Ireland's Mageean able to follow

Mageean ran out of gas in the slipstream and settled for silver.

Zharnel Hughes and Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake finished second and third in the British 200m.

Lawrence Okoye threw 67.14m to win a bronze medal.

Muir grits out another major medal

Over the past year, she has won Olympic silver, world bronze and Commonwealth gold.

Mageean finished in a season's best four minutes two.56 seconds, just over a second and a half off the winner.

Their team-mates were fourth, eighth and fourth, respectively. The bronze medal went to Poland'sSofia Ennaoui, who was caught out of position when the home team kicked for home.

The third and final peak in a log jam was the toughest to climb.

Is it possible to do it in person this summer? She said never again.

This was the most difficult. It was so difficult that it was the most difficult race I have ever run.

The Netherlands' Sifan Hassan was missing from the field, which made it easier for Muir to win.

There is no doubt that Muir is a better athlete.

Since her last European title, six of her seven fastest times over 1500m have come, while a sudden flurry of major medals, after a series of big-event disappointments, have confirmed her as a contender in any company.

As she lurked at the back of the pack on the opening lap, her confidence was clear as she moved up and took control of the race.

It looked as if she might have made a mistake when she rounded for home.

She was able to bail out herself as she won in some comfort.

The Scots flopped to the track over the line and laid hands on each other.

Hughes upgrades to gold

Hughes finished second in the 100m behind Marcell Jacobs, but never looked like he was going to be derailed from his victory over the long distance.

Hughes' stride stayed strong as he came off the bend with his teammate.

In a reversal of a close finish between Hughes and Mitchell-Blake on the 4x 100m anchor leg at the Tokyo Olympic final last summer, Hughes won in 20.07 seconds with Mitchell-Blake second in 20.74.

Hughes said that gold was a way to end it.

I am very thankful. The Europeans were more of a mental game than a physical one because they knew I was fit and strong.

Dobson finished fourth in 20.34 seconds, 0.13 seconds slower than his semi- final win.

He said that he gave it his all but wasn't good enough.

I was going well until I lost my footing and it was downhill from there.

'This is hopefully the start of something'

After winning a silver medal in the discus at the Commonwealth Games, Okoye decided to return to discus and try to make it as a football player.

His opening round effort of 67.14m was a little more than ametre down on his decade-old personal best and good enough to finish ahead of Olympic champion Daniel Stahl in a high class field.

Okoye was overcome with emotion as he realized that he was Britain's first European discus medal winner.

It means the world to me to do what I did today. I can't say what it is. He said he couldn't keep it back.

It was great to get it out of my system after a long time. Hopefully, this is the beginning for me.

Jake said he was lucky to get through his 800m semi-final after getting boxed in.

In an automatic qualification spot, he came home second.

He said he ran that poorly.

With 300m to go, I thought I had messed it up because I was in such a bad position, but the confidence I can take from it is that I must be fit enough to come back from that position.

Daniel Rowden failed to make the final after being run out of a sprint finish in the first semi.
