The PlayStation 5 is almost easy to buy

It has brought me joy to pen articles that celebrate that hard-to- find tech is getting easier to buy. The Series S and Series X were the first two, followed by the Series X a few months later. The PS5 is close to joining the club.

The PS5 console bundle with the PS5 and a disc drive is still in stock 19 hours after we wrote about it. There is still stock left over even after everyone has been in the store. If you want, you can take a nap and then buy one later.

A lot of people, including a lot of us at The Verge, are re learning about that type of luxury. It is wonderful. I think we are all ready to move on from the days when we had the responsibility of telling readers when they had minutes to score a console.

The PS4 had sold more in its lifespan than the PS5 in February of this year. According to recent sales data from the NPD Group, the PlayStation 5, along with the Xbox Series X, had much higher year-over-year sales in July 2022.

US NPD HW - PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series dollar sales each experienced double-digit percentage growth when compared to a year ago.

If that were the case, the PS5 would be in stock and ready to ship from the likes of Amazon, Best Buy, and more. Since you have to wait to see if you receive the invite, you can only request one at a time. If you fill out this form, you could be invited by Sony to buy a PS5

With this PS5 restock lasting through the night and well beyond it at this point, I hope it's an encouraging sign that stock won't be as bad as it was last year
