Today is the 20th anniversary of the launch of the popular music identification service. For the past two decades, Apple has shared a list of the most Shazamed songs of the year.

One of the first apps in the App Store was Shazam, which was launched as a text message service in the UK.
The music identification service was integrated into the Control Center on the iPhone after Apple acquired it. Since acquiring the service, Apple has added a concert discovery feature and removed ads from the app.
According to Apple, Shazam has over 200 million monthly users and has over 70 billion song recognitions. "Dance Monkey" by Tones And I is the most Shazamed song of all time with over 41 million.
The first-ever Shazamed song, the fastest tracks to accumulate Shazams, and more were listed in a press release by Apple.
There are apps for the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple watch, and more. The Control Center in the latest version of the software allows users to identify what music is playing without having to download the app.
