The family of a 12-year-old Little League World Series player from Utah who sustained a head injury after falling from the top bunk of his bed said Thursday that he has been moved from intensive care.

Easton Oliverson, a pitcher and outfielder for the Snow Canyon team out of Santa Clara, Utah, was listed in critical condition Tuesday after suffering an injury the day before.

He is now in a standard hospital room and can communicate with his parents and other family members, according to a post on the family's account.

There is a video attached to the post that shows Easton drinking and eating.

We are amazed by his strength and willingness to try new things. His family has been at the hospital with him and he has been talking more with them. His voice has been clearer when he speaks. He inquired about his hair and why he was there.

Jace told ABC News in a text message that he and his son had taken a few steps, but he had not yet walked on his own. I hope that happens soon.

Santa Clara was the first Utah team to make the Little League World Series. The team from the Mountain Region is going to play the team from the Southeast Region on Friday.

The Little League World Series officials said in a statement that Snow Canyon was filling Easton's open roster spot with his brother.

The addition of an eligible player is common in certain circumstances. The move was approved by the committee and will allow him to play in the game.

Spencer Beck told The Associated Press that Easton fell off the bed while he was sleeping and hit his head.

Beck said that the teammates heard him fall. The doctor told Jace that if he hadn't gotten into surgery, he would have died.

The family has set up an account for the child known as "Tank" on the payment service.

The statement said that the family couldn't be more grateful.
