The Los Angeles Lakers star agreed to a two-year, $97.1 million extension, but he isn't happy with the state of the team.

James has been adamant that the Lakers need to improve their roster and trade for a star point guard like Irving.

Irving picked up his player option with the Nets, but he's still the subject of trade rumors. According to previous reports, the Lakers and Nets were talking about a swap that would have involved Irving and the Nets' Russell Westbrook.

The fear that James might try to pressure the Lakers to make a move was alleviated Wednesday.

Some people believed that James might not sign the extension quickly as a leverage play. James could have applied pressure to make a trade like he has done in the past. He committed for at least the next two seasons, no matter what happens with the Lakers.

It's not a surprise that James wants to improve the Lakers. Los Angeles finished with a disappointing 33-49 record and missed out on the playoffs. The core of the roster remained the same despite the hiring of Darvin Ham as the new head coach.
