Soon you’ll be able to edit and unsend iMessages on iPhone. Here’s how it works

You will be able to unsend text messages for the first time in the newios 16 software.

If you send a message to the wrong person, you will be able to change it. The person you're texting will see the updated text, or that you've deleted a message, if they're running Apple's mobile operating system.

You can download the feature on your phone. The software will be released to everyone in the fall. You don't need an Apple product in the next year or two. The person you're texting has to have the latest software.

What do you do?

If you want to change something in a message, you need to know how to do it.

• First send a text to someone with an iPhone.
• Next, tap and hold the message you sent.
• Choose Edit
• Correct the text on your iPhone.
• Tap the blue check mark next to the text.
• The person on the receiving end will see a note that you’ve edited the text, but won’t see the original message.

It might be something you said to your boss that you regret. Maybe you sent a meme to your grandma instead of your friend. There is a way to reverse your error.

• Tap and hold the message you sent.
• Choose Undo Send.

If the recipient is running a device that hasn't been updated, you will see a message that tells you that the message has not been received.

You can't unsend a message you've already edited in the alpha version.
