The intellectual property rights to parts of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit were added to the company's roster earlier today.

What video game franchises I’ve heard of does Embracer now own?

The companies that make Little Nightmares II, Goat Simulator, Destroy All Humans!, TimeSplitters, Timecop, Darksiders, Saints Row, Duke Nukem, and Valheim are all owned by the Embracer Group.

And what about Embracer Group’s TV, comics, and movie franchises?

Dark Horse Media, the parent group of Dark Horse Comics, was bought by Embracer in 2021. It also owns the rights to all of the comic book movies. There is more to come. There is a lot of licensed card and board games owned by the Embracer Group.

When did Embracer start this purchasing spree?

In the last four years, most of these companies have been acquired. The most recent acquisition tear began in May of this year, when it bought the Tomb Raider and Deus Ex franchises along with other development studios and games from Square Enix Europe. A new Tomb Raider game is one of the new installments that the company said the deal brought.

Disney has a long-term strategy of acquiring notable intellectual properties in the gaming industry and other areas to make games and other media. The purchase ofLimited Run Games means that any game in the back catalog can be rereleased.

There is some concern about the rate at which Embracer Group is acquiring companies. It would take about eight of them to equal one of the other companies. The company doesn't make the top 10 list of biggest video game companies. It's not yet. There are huge opportunities to make money with Lord of the Rings games. It is possible for a Minas Tirith city management simulation or a Barbie Horse adventures-style game. A person can hope.
