Video assistant referee Mike Dean said he should have recommended Anthony Taylor to review the hair pull on Cucurella for a possible red card.

At the time, Dean was the VAR and he decided against any punishment for the player.

There were ugly touchline fights between the rival benches after Harry Kane headed in from the corner to deny the Blues victory.

Dean admitted that no referee would want to be driving home from a game knowing they should have made a different call. You can sometimes see that you could have done things differently.

"For the second goal by Harry Kane, I asked referee Anthony Taylor to wait while I looked at the incident involving the two players from the other side of the field."

I could not recommend a red card to Taylor, but I could tell him to go to the referee review area. I didn't see it as a violent act because I only studied it for a few seconds.

I should have asked Taylor to look at his monitor to see if he saw anything. The final decision is made by the referee on the field.

It shows that no matter how experienced you are, you are always learning.

It was disappointing for me as this was one incident from our officials.

Thomas Tuchel gestures as he and Antonio Conte clash after the final whistle at Stamford Bridge
Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte were both shown red cards following their angry altercation at full-time at Stamford Bridge

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg's goal should have been ruled out because Richarlison was in the goalkeeper's line of sight, according to the claims of the Blues.

Tuchel was angry that a foul was not given for a tackle by Bentancur on Havertz in the build-up to the tying goal.

Dean thinks he was right to allow the goal to stand.

He said, "Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg tied the game for Spurs." This one was fairly easy to understand. I can't remember the last time I looked at the possible foul on Kai Havertz. The Spurs player got a toe to the ball, so it wasn't a factor in whether the goal stood.

There was a question about whether Richarlison was interfering. Mendy had a view of the ball when Hojbjerg hit it. His vision wasn't clearly blocked so he was able to see it.

Dean won't be in charge of the VAR for the next round of league games after he was given the weekend off.

Cucurella: Romero hair pull is clear, it's a referee and VAR error

Cucurella said that the hair pull on him was "clear" and that the decision not to punish the Spurs defender was a mistake.

Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella says referee Anthony Taylor and the VAR officials perhaps made an error of judgement with regards to his hair being pulled by Tottenham's Cristian Romero

Cucurella told a press conference that it was too clear in the game. I didn't watch it on TV. I think it's clear, but it's a mistake by the referee or VAR.

Sometimes the referees make the right decisions. This is not something I have to deal with. We might need to work harder to avoid this goal.

There was a red card in the stadium. I think it's clear for me. I have no idea what happened.

Cucurella joked that his hair is fine and that he won't change his style.

The Spaniard said he had no problem with him. It's just one action of the game, but maybe it changed the outcome.

It's fine for me. I talked to him before the game. I don't have anything to worry about. There is only one thing happening in the game. It could be an important action that changes the outcome. We have another chance to win.

Romero to avoid retrospective action for hair pull

In football's laws, pulling a player's hair is not an offence and will not be taken retrospective.

Former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher gives his expert analysis on the key moments in the 2-2 draw between Chelsea and Tottenham at Stamford Bridge

Retrospective action can only be given when the match and video officials fail to spot an incident on the pitch in real time and don't mention it in their post- match report.

The correct course of action would have been a free-kick, since referee Taylor spotted the incident in real time.

Football laws don't mention hair pulling. The officials have to decide if the hair pulling is violent.

It would be considered unsporting behavior and result in a yellow card if it's not.

Thomas Tuchel argues with Antonio Conte after the final whistle at Stamford Bridge
Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte says he accepts and respects the FA's decision to charge both him and Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel after their confrontation at Stamford Bridge

Even though he was sent off at the end of the London derby against his old club, he is still hopeful that he will be in charge for Spurs' game against Wolves.

He and Tuchel had a fight at the end of the game after Spurs had tied the score at 2-2.

The managers have until Thursday evening to either accept or appeal the charge.

When asked about the charge earlier on Thursday, he seemed to hint that he would accept it. We have to agree.

We have to respect the decisions that are made. Sometimes this can happen. It won't be the last time that two coaches aren't on the same page.

We have to move on and have respect for each other. The situation ends there for me.

Even if they accept their charges, they won't receive a ban.

When asked if he was expecting to be on the sideline against Wolves, he said he hoped so. I believe that it's correct.

Staying in my place is right for me. After this type of situation, you can learn a lot, but at the same time, I think I was good to be calm and not have an excessive reaction in the situation.
