Musk is no stranger to scrutiny, but a new interview with a former employee sheds light on what Musk was like in the early days of the company.
Speaking as a guest on an episode of "The Iced Coffee Hour", Carl Medlock, who now runs his own EV repair shop in Seattle, talked about his time atTesla, including his interactions with Musk
Musk's habit of sleeping at his desk was one of the things Medlock shared. Others were a bit more worried.
According to Medlock, you don't argue with him. You better head that direction if you stand up from your chair when Elon says "This is the direction we're going to go." He won't let you back-talk because he's not one for it.
If you were being micromanaged by Musk, you would probably be on your way out.
It is not surprising that Musk has been widely reported to fire employees on a whim.
Medlock said that Musk was very disciplined.
Medlock said that he is a good guy.
He said that he is intimidating but if you look at his children, he is smart. He's a good dad and he's easy to talk to.
It sounds like things are okay if you are on Musk's side. Are you going to surround yourself with sycophants if you fire people who disagree with you, or are you going to fire people who disagree with you.
Since his humbler startup days, Musk has spent a lot more time in the spotlight, with mounting accounts of his tyrannical behavior, and even the alleged suppression of sexual allegations.
Is Musk a good man? It would be very difficult to make a safer characterization.
