The school announced the death of a football player.

The brother of a Buffalo Bills tight end transferred to FIU after four years at Ole Miss.

School officials said that he died Wednesday. Police don't suspect foul play and the cause was not revealed.

FIU coach Mike MacIntyre said in a statement that they were sad about the death of their teammate and friend. At Ole Miss and FIU, I was the head coach. His genuine love for his family and teammates is what I will remember the most. He made everyone around him feel good.

During MacIntyre's time at Ole Miss, he had a pair of games at linebacker. In the past two seasons, he had 11 tackles and two for loss.

FIU athletics sent their thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of the player. The coaches and support staff have been reaching out to the football family to make sure they have the support they need.

The FIU players were told of his death. Thursday's practice was canceled and grief counselors were brought in to talk to the team.

Sean McDermott, the coach of the Bills, said he woke up Thursday morning to the news and made sure to mention that the team would support him and his family.

"My heart goes out to the family and I wish them the best during this time," he said. We are with him and his family, and I woke up this morning to tragic news. We love him and we support him.
