Patrick Reed at LIV gold tournament
Reed was nicknamed 'Captain America' for his emotional performances on US Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup teams from 2014-19

Reed has filed a $750 million defamation lawsuit against The Golf Channel.

Major damages have been caused by false and reckless attacks.

Several multi-million-dollar sponsorship deals have been lost due to the comments.

The Golf Channel hasn't responded to Reed's accusations.

Reed was a member of the golf series in June.

According to the lawsuit, the network has been targeting Reed since he was 23 years old, to destroy his reputation, create hate and a hostile work environment for him, and with the intention to tarnish his name and accomplishments as a young, elite, world class golfer.

Reed accuses Chamblee of lying with reckless disregard of the truth.

Several high-profile players have left the established American-based PGA Tour to join the Saudi Arabian-backed LIV Golf circuit. The prize money for several of the tour's tournaments was raised as a result of the ban on players who committed to LIV Golf.

Reed's is one of many expected legal battles between players on the LIV Golf Circuit and the PGA Tour, as well as players, such as Tiger Woods, meeting this week to discuss the threat of the Saudi-funded tour.
