Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis excoriated the lawyer of Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp for accusing her office of trying to undermine Kemp's re-election chances.

Kemp's lawyer, Brian McEvoy, sought to dismiss a subpoena of Kemp for the investigation into former President Donald Trump's attempt to overturn the election in Georgia. It shows how frustrated the office of Willis was in trying to get testimony from Kemp.

In the attached conversation, McEvoy and counsels from Willis' office discussed Kemp's possible testimony, up until McEvoy called the probe "politically motivated" and "leaks" that could lead the public to learn that the governor had.

Kemp defeated Perdue in the Georgia governor's race in May.

The district attorney reprimanded and challenged McEvoy.

The email you sent is offensive. You are both incorrect and confused.

This is not a politically motivated investigation, let's talk about it. Often at the end of criminal investigations people are cleared and go to prison.

McEvoy's references to the "politically motivated investigation" did not make it the truth. You have become very comfortable being dishonest because you repeat it so many times.

According to the email, McEvoy's reasoning that her office's probe was driven by a separate agenda because it took place during an election cycle was without merit.

Trump and his associates may have violated Georgia's election fraud and racketeering laws when they tried to pressure state officials to overturn the 2020 election results. The 18-month probe has used a special grand jury with the power to subpoena potential witnesses and has ordered some of Trump's closest advisers, including his personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani and Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, to appear for testimony

Kemp was called as a witness because he was one of the officials that Trump called in December to try to overturn the result. At the time, the governor advocated for a signature audit of the votes.

When McEvoy made his claims about the probe being a risk to Kemp's re-election, the office arranged for Kemp to give a videotaped testimony about Trump's request.

It was the attorneys of witnesses, such as Kemp and Giuliani, who often reveal to the public that their clients are the targets of a probe, according to the response.

The district attorney ordered her staff to bend over backwards to accommodate Kemp.

We have been working together for a long time. You have shown disrespect to my staff. You have been dishonest about conversations that have taken place.

You have treated this investigation with disdain and taken my kindness as weakness. She wanted her staff to be treated the same way as McEvoy was.

The client needs to come and tell the truth. We have never asked the governor anything else.

Kemp has yet to submit the requested video testimony and was issued a second subpoena on Thursday.

The district attorney had engineered the Governor's interaction with the investigation to reach a climax in the middle of an election cycle, according to McEvoy.

Kemp beatAbrams by a slim margin in the election for governor of Georgia.

Kemp has been attacked by Trump for refusing to back his election fraud claims and for resisting pressure not to certify Biden's win. Insider reported that Trump has not ruled out endorsing Kemp in the race for governor.
