  • YouTube is testing a new change for its "Explore" tab.
  • The tests seek to remove the Explore page, opting for a navigational panel for it on the app's home page.
  • Early looks show a few clear categories for users to jump into quickly.

The Explore section of the app is being changed.

Right now, when you open the app on your phone, you will be sent to a dedicated page. You can find recommended videos and areas on this page. According to a post from the Telegram account, it appears that YouTube is interested in changing how its Explore section works for mobile devices.

The Explore page gets the boot and is replaced by a navigation panel from the side. There are clear categories in the photo provided. Music, movies, live, gaming, and sports are included in the navigation panel. Considering how the Explore page works on its live build, it's quite the change.

The way that this panel works with a phone's gestures feature has been incorporated into the testing by YouTube. If you hold down the left side, you can see the panel. The panel only works from the home page.

Being one of the best apps for enjoying content on Android, continuing to innovate and make its existing features better is always a priority. It is not clear how users will respond to the change. We haven't seen this feature on our devices, but it's not the only change that YouTube has been testing.

The update for looping a video chapter was brought in last month. Texting a new video zoom feature that allows users to zoom into a video up to 8x is only available until September 1.
